Stay like St. Bridget in this medieval town steeped in mythical Swedish history, dine in the monks' old dormitories, or enjoy a full day at the spa where you'll be embraced by warmth and tranquility. The thick walls, stone floors and high cross vaults give you a glimpse of what life was once like in the monastery.
We offer weekend packages & conferences as well as wedding and party arrangements in a unique medieval environment that we have made the most of without compromising on comfort and quality. The hotel and Restaurant Munkklostret are housed in some of Sweden's oldest buildings; the Holy Birgitta's monastery from the 14th century and Birger Jarl's princely palace from the 13th century and the King's Hall which dates from 1253.
Thanks to our various buildings, seven in all, we are able to meet the needs of many guests. Genuine monastic environment, modern accommodation, disabled-friendly, conference rooms of different sizes and with different decor. Each guest can find their favorite room with us as all rooms have their style and atmosphere.
The hotel is close to all cultural attractions, picturesque shopping in the center of Vadstena and swimming on the shores of Lake Vättern. Tourist attractions include Vadstena Abbey Church, St. Birgitta's Abbey Museum, Mårtens Skinnare's house, the Hospital Museum, Vadstena Castle, the Pilgrimage Center, the National Archives and beautiful surroundings such as Omberg and Tåkern.
The business has been run by the Milton family since 1985.
