Historic champagne weekend

A perfect weekend for those who want to learn more about one of the world's most noble drinks, Champagne, in our historic abbey setting with a unique wine cellar dating back to 1384.

Among other things, we will try Thierry Perrion's Champagne, which we have our own import. It is Thierry and his Swedish wife Jessica who run the Champagne business in the village of Verzenay, a Grand Cru classified village near Reims.

Together we will taste four Champagnes in different styles from different producers led by our amazingly knowledgeable sommelier Jeanette. 

There may also be some exciting extra bubbly in the glasses during the tasting as we have many fantastic wines from all corners of the world. 

We will also follow the history of Champagne past to present, there are many interesting people that we associate strongly with Champagne so there will be many anecdotes.

We tie this together with historical elements about Vadstena and about St. Birgitta, who is an important person for Vadstena and the foundation of the monastery.

The fixed menu is canceled this evening, the kitchen will make a special menu. Please notify special diets or allergies in advance.
