Join us on an exciting journey through the history of beer and monasteries.
Andreas Fejes, founder and owner of the internationally award-winning Vreta Kloster brewery and author of the internationally award-winning book Klosteröl, talks about the role of monasteries in the history of beer. Historical guided tour, beer tasting of different types of beer from Vreta Klosterbryggeri and a good dinner with the brewmaster are included in the package.
October 11-12, 2025
Why did monks and nuns brew beer and why were monasteries home to the largest breweries in Europe until the 13th century? Why did the nuns and monks at Vadstena Abbey need to brew 1000s of liters of beer every month and what did Gustav Vasa actually do that meant that the monasteries and their beer brewing disappeared in Sweden in the 16th century?
This and much more will be answered during this unique historical beer weekend with brewmaster Andreas Fejes - of course accompanied by good beer and food.
